"Everyone who lives in Cecil County and in the greater Delmarva area knows that we enjoy a wealth of environmental resources whether it is the Susquehanna River, the Sassafras River, the greater Chesapeake Bay, or Fair Hill. Places like Elk Neck State Park provide Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, hikers, and campers opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and learn about nature. We need to keep positive outlets for our youth in place. As a public servant I will do my part to make sure that we conserve our natural resources for future generations to enjoy. During my time as a member of the Board of Directors at the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy our organization was able to preserve more than 4,000 acres in Cecil County that will remain working farms."
-Improve Water Quality and Preserve Critical Areas
"As a supporting member of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Sassafras River Association, and the Maryland Oystermen Association I understand the importance of improving our water quality and preserving our critical areas.”
“I helped start the Maryland Oystermen Association with several local oystermen and other oystermen from our sister counties. Our goal with this association is to restart the oyster repletion and restoration program while maximizing the return on minimal investment in oyster repletion and restoration. A strengthened oyster population is a good thing for the Chesapeake Bay since oysters filter and clean the water. Through this organization and others, we can raise awareness of the importance of water quality and bay restoration which allows our citizens to enjoy our rivers such as the Elk, Northeast, Sassafras and Susquehanna."
“We must preserve Critical Areas as these areas serve as vital coastal protection against pollution from the surrounding regions.”
-I do not support development of Fair Hill
“I would however support infrastructure improvements to existing park buildings and facilities that help support 4-Hers, park users, etc.”
-Address river sediment buildup at the Conowingo Dam
"I will pay close attention to the river sediment buildup at the Susquehanna Dam in Conowingo. This sediment buildup may cause a substantial threat to the health of the Chesapeake Bay if not addressed correctly. I will work with the local and federal delegation to address and find solutions to the buildup of sediment behind the Susquehanna River Dam."
-Preserve our green infrastructure
"The county's green infrastructure is important. We must have policies and ordinances in place that do not cause harm or intrude into the county's green infrastructure. This infrastructure provides a natural filtering system for our local rivers, creeks and streams that drain into the greater Chesapeake Bay. Green infrastructure enhances our quality of life and standard of living in Cecil County; therefore, it must be recognized and respected." |
