Government Transparency

-Televise public meetings

“We need to restore the public trust in our local government.  If government has nothing to hide let’s have a transparent way of conducting ourselves.  By televising meetings we can educate the public about what we are doing.  Working moms and dads won’t have to drive to Elkton in order to know what county government is doing; they can watch it in the comfort of their home.  I will work with the Visual Communications Department at Cecil College to create a program for students to run the audio/visual logistics of the program.  This way our local government would not have to spend more public funds for televised meetings and our local students could gain valuable experience in their study areas.”

-Review and enforce public notice procedures

“Public notification for meetings, government actions, or policies must be given in a way that allows the citizens ample time to review the content and to respond to such content.  Government does not derive power from itself, but from the citizens, therefore, if proper public notice is not given, I will make sure it is.”
